Datebook: September 16 - Poetry Readnig, LBL Homecoming, Gourd Festival

The Murray State University department of English and philosophy presents a reading by poet and essayist Eamonn Wall tomorrow night at 7:30 in the Clara Eagle Gallery, located on the sixth floor of Price Doyle Fine Arts Building. Wall is the author of seven collections of poetry. The reading is free and open to the public. 

The annual Homecoming for former residents of the Lyon County portion of what is now known as Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is Saturday at the Star Camp Picnic Area. All former residents, relatives, and friends are invited. Bring food, beverages, lawn chairs, and any other picnic or recreation items. Restrooms, picnic tables, and grills are provided.

The Icehouse Gallery in Mayfield holds its annual Gourd Patch Arts Festival this Saturday. The festival features a gourd race car derby, the "All About Gourds" art exhibit, a silent auction, bake sale, gourd music, and more. The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Details at icehousearts.org.
