A new study shows that Calloway County has the highest life expectancy among western Kentucky counties and one of the highest overall in the state.
The study was conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center on Society and Health, with results published in the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Most counties in the Jackson Purchase have an average life expectancy of 76 years, according to the study, but Calloway County residents averaged 78 years. Statewide, only Oldham County had a higher life expectancy at 79 years.
Fulton County has the lowest life expectancy in the region at 73 years.
