Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, TBI Media

Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged Brenden Tyler Burns in connection to the shooting death of a TBI Special Agent. Agent De'Greaun Frazier was killed Tuesday afternoon in Jackson, TN during the course of an ongoing drug investigation.

TBI spokesman Josh DeVine says in a news release that 35-year-old Special Agent De'Greaun Frazier was working with other agents and narcotics officers when he met Burns for a controlled buy in a car Tuesday afternoon. DeVine says Burns produced a firearm in an attempt to rob Frazier and an informant. Burns fired once, striking Frazier who later died at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Frazier had been with TBI since February after working as an officer with the Millington Police Department.

Shortly after the shooting, law enforcement officers apprehended Burns a short distance away. Burns was charged Wednesday morning with one count of Murder in the Perpetration of Attempted Aggravated Robbery. He is currently being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
