Police Investigating House Fire that Left Five Dead in Tennessee

WKRN

Henry County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a house fire that left five people dead Thursday night.

The family's pastor, Randy Stephens, said sisters Lilly and Rose Pollack escaped from the fire when one awoke to the smell of smoke and tried to wake the others. Thirteen-year-old Lilly was able to get eight-year-old Rose out of the home.

Parents Jimmy and Carrie Pollack died, as well as children Jimmy Dale Pollack Jr., 14; Callie Pollack, 3; and Ivy Pollack, 4. Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew said the home was mostly collapsed when the fire department arrived. Belew said crews haven’t determined the exact cause of the fire.

“There was some faulty wiring, we believe, at the residence,” Belew said. “And then there was a wood stove burning. But, to just say exactly what it was, we just can’t say at this time.”

Belew said the home didn’t have smoke detectors. Henry County Sheriff’s Department has opened an account at Security Bank and Trust in Paris, Tennessee for anyone wishing to make a donation to the sisters. The girls are currently staying with their grandmother.
