McCracken County Public Schools has appointed an acting superintendent following the resignation of Brian Harper last week.
Director of Public Relations Jayme Jones says the board on Monday appointed Heath Cartwright for the interim role. The vote was 4 - 1 with board member Kelly Walker voting no.
Cartwright has served as the assistant superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and the Director of Technology since 2010. Cartwright served as the principal of Heath Elementary School and Ledbetter Elementary in the early to mid 2000s.
Former superintendent Brian Harper sent his resignation letter to the board on Friday following a string of criminal investigations into several school district employees, a volunteer coach and a high school student.
