Unemployment rates fell in 85 Kentucky counties between October 2018 and October 2019 according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Unemployment rates fell in the Pennyrile region of west Kentucky and the Purchase region’s rate rose slightly.
The Pennyrile region’s unemployment rate is at 4.4 percent for October 2019, which is lower than October 2018’s rate of 4.8 percent. Todd County has the lowest rate at 3.5 percent and Muhlenberg County has the highest rate with 5.6 percent.
The Purchase region’s rate for October 2019 is at 4.3 percent, which is higher than the October 2018 rate of 3.9 percent. Ballard County has the highest unemployment rate at 5.7 percent and Calloway County has the lowest rate at 3.5 percent.
The national unemployment rate is 3.3 percent.
