Republican Kentucky State Senator C.B. Embry, Jr. is running for re-election next year for the Sixth District seat representing Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Ohio and Butler counties.

Embry said he will continue to make sure his district receives its share of the state budget and will represent farmers, veterans and senior citizens. He also said he will advocate for educational opportunities and training for young people in the region.

Embry helped pass eight bills this session--a new personal record in passing legislation. He said his two “best bills” this past session allowed terminally ill patients to use experimental drugs and expanded death-in-the-line-of-duty benefits for state national guard members.

“I help several people every week get through the red tape of state government and helping those is the best benefit I receive,” Embry said.

Embry said he would vote ‘no’ on the proposed pension legislation and thinks it has little chance of passing. He said the plan needs to be rewritten to include an agreed-to funding source.

When asked about former House Speaker Jeff Hoover’s sexual harassment scandal, Embry said he didn’t want to comment on the matter. However, Embry did comment on the sexual assualt allegations against Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore and said the claims were upsetting if true. He said people are innocent until proven guilty but “we do not want people that have that type of record serving.” He also said Moore has done a lot of good things and that “sometimes good people do bad things.”

Embry has represented the Sixth District since 2003.
