Paducah Beer Werks is closing Monday to Wednesday following a notification that multiple people who had eaten at the brewery had been in direct contact with an individual that tested positive for COVID-19 this past week.

According to a Facebook post by PBW, the person who tested positive “negligently went out to bars and work while they were awaiting their test results.” PBW said the person potentially exposed multiple other people to the virus but did not come into the craft brewery.

PBW is closing to disinfect the building and wait for test results from those in direct contact with the individual. PBW said they plan to reopen as normal on Thursday at 12 p.m. They said they won’t close every time someone tests positive for the virus in Paducah and this is a “special case” because of the degree of possible exposure.

“We do not feel there is reason to be alarmed, we are just taking the safest possible steps we know to take to continue to ensure that your safety and health is our top priority when you step foot in Paducah Beer Werks.”

PBW said masks are required at the establishment and have plenty for customers who may have forgotten their own at home. They said they enforce the rule and anyone not wearing a mask while inside the building will be asked to leave.

“We keep hearing, ‘how am I supposed to eat with a mask on?’ Our answer is the same every time, you may remove your mask while eating and drinking.”
