The Paducah Power System board has approved a new “pay as you go” option for the utility’s customers.
PPS ratepayers have seen higher bills in recent years after the system cut ties with the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Paducah Power says the “PAYGO” program is comparable to customers filling up their car’s gas tank - users choose an amount they can pay and only need to make another payment whenever they’ve consumed that amount of energy.
Customers will receive regular text or email updates about account balances. Payments can be made over the phone, online or at three kiosks located around Paducah. The kiosk locations have not yet been determined.
The program starts February 8.
