Violence Against Women Costly For TN

A recent study shows violence against women in Tennessee costs the state more than $880 million  annually.

The study was done by the Tennessee Economic Council on Women and presented at a recent women's summit in Nashville.

It identified costs incurred by public and private entities statewide as a result of domestic violence, human sex trafficking and sexual assault.

The majority of the expense was manifest in tax dollars and health care payments, but the study said other expenditures like charity, lost wages, workplace expenses and inefficiency also played significant roles.
