Tennessee Soybean Festival Ramps Up

Tennessee Soybean Festival

The 21st annual Tennessee Soybean Festival is underway this week in Martin. Some 30,000 people are expected to attend the week-long event.

Community Development Director Brad Thompson says the festival started small with a handful of UT Martin agriculture professors passionate about the value of soybeans.

“It’s been a festival that had pretty humble beginnings. It’s really grown into a festival which leads into our theme this year of ‘Let It Grow,” Thompson said.

According to the festival’s website, soybeans are a top cash crop in the region. Applications include plastics, printing and cleaning products.

Thompson says organizers are working with area restaurants and other sponsors to promote local business.

Events including live music performances will be held as the fair runs through this weekend. You can find a full schedule here.
