The Dorena-Hickman Ferry resumed operation at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, after being closed for nearly two months. The ferry closed November 18th, with officials thinking it would be out of operation for a few weeks. Instead, the closure lasted over two months.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said Captain Ed Floyd and his crew spent Tuesday becoming familiar with some of the operational subtleties of the new barge.
The ferry will operate on the regular winter schedule.
The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri, the only direct route between the two states.
