Eggners to Open to 4-Lane Traffic Wednesday

KYTC

The Eggners Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake will open to four-lane traffic this week.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says at noon Wednesday, the members of the public will be able to walk the two eastbound lanes before they open to vehicle traffic at 1 PM.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be similar to the 2012 ‘Bridge Day’ when the old Eggners Ferry Bridge reopened after being damaged in a barge accident.

Crews have worked since early 2014 to finish the $133 million project.  Todd says the walkway and bicycle path are expected open in 6 to 8 weeks.
