Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear has vetoed legislation that would overrule his executive order limiting conversion therapy on minors in the state.

Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear joined health care professionals and activists Wednesday as he signed an executive order he said would restrict conversion therapy in Kentucky.

“Conversion therapy” is dangerous for LGBTQ youth, and bipartisan support for prohibiting it grew in recent years. But this session, lawmakers passed an anti–LGBTQ law instead.
