Tragedy struck close to home when a student opened fire in the commons area of Marshall County High School on January 23rd, eleven minutes before the first bell rang. 20 students were injured, 16 of which were gunshot wounds. A Kentucky grand jury is meeting to consider charging a teenager as an adult in a shooting that killed two classmates and wounded many more at Marshall County High School.

The counseling center that opened in Marshall County following the high school shooting last week is closing, though other services remain available.

Kentucky’s education commissioner is asking Kentuckians to wear blue and orange on Friday  in honor of the staff and students at Marshall County High School and in memory of the victims of the school shooting last week.
