Lexington police have charged a 16-year-old the fatal shooting of Robert Durrum.

Durrum, 15, is the second Lafayette High School student involved in a shooting the past three months.

Lexington city leaders are asking police how local government can help to reduce gun violence.  The issue came up for discussion at Tuesday’s council work session in reaction to the shooting death of Lexington Lafayette High School Sophomore Trinity Gay.  She died after being hit in an exchange of gunfire in a restaurant parking lot.  

Police Chief Mark Barnard says some of the best help could come from citizens who have information about those involved in violent crimes.

A fourth person has been charged in connection with the shooting death of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay's 15-year-old daughter. 

Hundreds gathered at Lexington Lafayette High School Monday night to pay tribute to the life of Trinity Gay.  The 15-year-old died early Sunday after being hit during an exchange of gunfire.

Prayers, candles, and airborne balloons accompanied pleas for unity in the effort to reduce gun violence.
