The Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library named a Versailles man as its new director Tuesday. Library Chair of Personnel Gwendol McCaskill says Joel Meador was among 11 candidates for the job, which has been open since Lisa Wigley resigned last June. Meador has served as the executive director for the Jack Jouett House Historic House and as a special collections librarian at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. Meador’s tentative start date is March 1.

Whitney grew up listening to Car Talk to and from her family’s beach vacation each year, but it wasn’t until a friend introduced her to This American Life that radio really grabbed her attention. She is a recent graduate from Union University in Jackson, Tenn., where she studied journalism. When she’s not at WKMS, you can find her working on her backyard compost pile and garden, getting lost on her bicycle or crocheting one massive blanket.
