Calloway County farmer and Kentucky Farm Bureau Second Vice President Sharon Furches has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Committee (FRRCC).

Congressman James Comer recommended Furches for the position and praised her experience and qualifications for serving as a voice for agriculture.

“Congratulations to my dear friend Sharon Furches for her appointment to the EPA’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee, a position I was proud to recommend her for and know she will excel in,” Comer said in a statement. “Her background on the farm, leadership in Kentucky Farm Bureau and strong relationships within the agriculture community have prepared her well to serve in this key role.”

The FRRCC provides independent policy advice and information to the EPA administrator on environmental issues and policies that are important to agriculture and rural communities. The 33 nominees will constitute a new committee, with each serving two or three-year terms.
