Paducah Symphony Orchestra Opens Season with Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto

Saturday night, The Carson Center fills with music as the Paducah Symphony Orchestra's 2014-2015 season starts. Artistic Director and Conductor Raffaele Ponti has brought a breadth of vision, clarity of interpretation and rich beauty of sound to the Symphony during his tenure and is known for his concise, but charming introductions to program selections. He speaks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about the opener, "Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto."

The Encore Series Piano Recital by Pompa-Baldi starts at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Paducah. His program includes works by Liszt, Chopin and Debussy.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
