Kentucky Kingdom will have five new rides and expanded hours in 2015 following "solid results" in its first season re-opened, the amusement park said Thursday in a news release.

Kentucky Kingdom's first season since 2009 ends Sunday. The park has drawn nearly 600,000 people, according to a Courier-Journal story. (Here's a timeline from earlier in the year on the park's closure and reopening.)

Next year, Kentucky Kingdom will increase its days open to 110 from this year's 94, the news release said. It will also be open for longer hours on weekdays.

The five new rides will be worth more than $30 million, the park said. They'll be called Raging Rapids River Ride, T3, SkyCatcher, Cyclos and Enterprise.

(Disclosure: Ed Hart, Kentucky Kingdom's president and chief executive, donated a challenge grant in 2012 that led to the creation of Louisville Public Media's Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting.)
