Discovery Park of America's founder, Robert Kirkland, passed away this morning at 7:15 in his Union City residence at the age of 77. The park will be closed Wednesday for a ceremony titled "A Celebration-of-Life" for family and friends.
Visitation with the family is from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and the Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00, with remarks from lifelong friend Jim Rippy and several family members. There will be no additional ceremonies after the Celebration at Discovery Park. Arrangements are being taken care of by White-Ranson in Union City.
Mr. Kirkland's family has requested that all memorials be made to Discovery Park of America's Education Department for scholarships for children who might not be able to afford to come to the park.
