Halfway to LowerTown is a fundraising event for the LowerTown Arts & Music Festival this Friday at 7 p.m. at Paducah Beer Werks. On Sounds Good, Seth Murphy, Music Director for the festival and Shannon Vetter of Gideon's Rifle join Austin Carter in studio with an update on the event, what the bands have been up to and Vetter plays a new song, "Existential Blues."

Halfway to LowerTown fundraiser is this Friday at Paducah Beer Werks, supporting the LowerTown Arts & Music Festival. The event begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $8 in advance (at Paducah Beer Werks and Etcetera Coffeehouse) or $10 at the door. Bands include: Daniel Morrow, Lew Jetton & 61 South, Gideon's Rifle and The Savage Radley. Many of the artists performing have been working on albums or new material.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
Austin Carter is a Murray State grad and has been involved with WKMS since he was in high school. Over the years he has been a producer for WKMS and has hosted several music shows, but now calls Morning Edition his home each weekday morning.
