A groundbreaking has been set for the Bill Monroe Museum in west Kentucky.
Ohio County officials hope the May 22nd event will set in motion the creation of a tourism destination honoring Monroe’s stature as the “Father of Bluegrass Music.”
The Bill Monroe Homeplace in Rosine has been more of a side trip for many visitors heading to the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro.
Supporters are looking to raise $750,000 for the building effort. The state supplied $300,000 in seed money in 2015.
Ohio County will own the museum and the county tourism department is overseeing the project.
