American Quilter's Society

A woman from Oregon and another from North Dakota won the Janome America Best of Show awardfor their quilt Wednesday night at Paducah’s fall Quilt Week Show award ceremony. Beth Nufer of Brookings, Oregon, and Clem Buzick of Fargo, North Dakota, crafted the quilt, called “Diamond Effervescence”, using both machines and hand needlework. New York City-based Quilter Victoria Findlay Wolfe presented the quilt, sparkled with geometrical rainbow shapes, at the ceremony.

“Silk fabric and a satin background combined a stunning quilt. Techniques are hand applique, interfacing, paper piecing, machine piecing, piped edging and free-motion quilting on a movable machine,” Wolfe said.

Nufer and Buzick also win $20,000 in prize money with the award. Other overall award winners hailing from Canada and the states of Washington, Texas, Oregon, and New Hampshire, also took home a total $51,000 in prize money. Find all the award winners here
