The Paducah Symphony Orchestra is suspending the remainder of their 2019/2020 season as the coronavirus continues to spread in west Kentucky.
PSO said in a press release the decision came after hearing advice from the CDC and Governor Andy Beshear. Federal and state officials are calling on Americans to continue practicing social distancing to prevent virus transmission.
Two performances were scheduled for the rest of their fortieth anniversary season. Ticket holders may donate the ticket amount to the orchestra, receive a voucher to a future performance, or receive a full refund. The two scheduled programs will be presented as part of the next season.
“The performing arts are going to be hit hard by the response to this virus, but we must make sacrifices in the near-term in order to ensure a global recovery and a return to our normal way of life,” PSO staff said in an email to supporters.
