Underwriter Spotlight: Eddy Grove Vineyard

It wouldn’t be hard to think you’ve stepped into a storybook when you first visit Eddy Grove Vineyard. With rolling hills, grape vines, patio tables with big umbrellas, and a Tuscan-inspired tasting room – it’s a great tucked-away find off State Route 293 near Princeton, Kentucky, an easy trek from I-24.

With a new expansion offering even more seating on the second floor, the on-site Timberdoodle Restaurant is cooking up new dishes every week to pair with the locally-produced Medicine Man wines – from Asian Grilled Chicken Salad, to Bourbon Burgers, to Perry’s Kentucky Hot Brown.

And this week would be a good time to stop by. One of Eddy Grove’s most popular wines, Ruby Blush Infusion is back for the season. And this week’s lunch special is a beet and spinach grilled chicken salad, with pecans, bacon pieces and feta cheese.

Lunch is served Wednesday through Friday from 11 to 4 and Saturday from noon til 4, with wine tastings available through 5 p.m. Dinner is a Friday and Saturday night affair (5 – 8 p.m.), by reservation only; with the menu changing weekly – incorporating steak, seafood, fresh vegetables and other dishes from Chef Perry Byrd. Timberdoodle's menu takes advantage of local produce and food from the chef's gardens for a farm-to-table feel. They also offer on and offsite catering for intimate settings or large parties.

Timberdoodle manager, Laura Manion, says that it’s the pairing with the atmosphere and wine of Eddy Grove that makes the food even better. The two local businesses work together as a team, and the owners of both listen to WKMS every day. Laura says that the WKMS audience is one they want to bring to the vineyard, “from 20-somethings to 80-somethings – there’s such a diverse listener base. And they’re all folks we think would enjoy our food and wine.”

Eddy Grove Vineyard is located at 300 Martin Rd, Princeton, Kentucky and is open Tuesday through Saturday. To find out more, like them on Facebookor Instagram.

Asia Burnett is WKMS Station Manager.
