More than 800 new jobs are coming to downtown Owensboro in one of the city’s largest-ever economic development projects.

California-based telemarketing company Alorica plans to hire 500 employees in the first 12 months and expand to 830 over the next three years to staff a ‘customer-engagement center’ in the former BB&T building.

Alorica is using the Kentucky Skills Network, which allows companies to receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services and job training incentives.

Company leaders expect to open the office next year.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
