A self-taught artist and cabinet maker from Fulton, Kentucky, Henderson was an artist with a disability whose paintings and carved birds of the southern United States won accolades and fans among art collectors and others.
A launch party for this exhibit will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. with a short program discussing Henderson’s art with Discovery Park senior director of exhibits and collections, Jennifer Wildes. This event is FREE for all guests. Light refreshments will be served.

Join us for a beginner course on the AP Lazer - Laser Engraver with maker space director, Heather Staggs.In this first class, participants will learn the basic functions of the laser, what types of materials can be used, and the types of items that a person can engrave. Participants will go through Lightburn Software for shapes, text, and formatting, The Group will also discuss and learn cuts/layers. Participants will leave with a small base practice piece.

The Christian County Master Gardener Association has partnered with the Corner Coffeehouse to present Coffee & Chlorophyll, a free gardening series that covers a different topic each month. This month's topic will be on herb gardening. The program starts at 9:30 am in the courtyard, weather permitting.

True crime fans are familiar with television's portrayal of coroners and their captivating investigations. In this presentation, McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton will discuss her unique vocation which encompasses both a twenty-five-year career as a funeral director/embalmer and now sixth year as Coroner. She will begin with a bit of history, discuss correct terminology, share facts and clear up myths. Amanda will discuss the timeline and protocol for processing physical and digital evidence uncovered at the scene. Important information will be shared about grief, protecting the dignity of those we serve, and the unavoidable emotional toll of this career.
It’s guaranteed that an interesting question and answer session will take place after her presentation. Her unique credentials make this a “don’t miss it” opportunity.

Amanda Melton was re-elected to her second term as McCracken County Coroner in November 2022. She was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Coroner Association. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Southern Illinois University, Amanda holds a degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service. Upon graduation from SIU, she was named the top mortuary student in the state by the Illinois Funeral Directors Association.
Amanda is a Kentucky licensed funeral director/embalmer in McCracken County, having worked at area funeral homes (Roth Funeral Chapel & Milner & Orr Funeral Homes) for over twenty-five years.
