Trigg and Webster Counties are among six in the commonwealth to receive grant funding for fixing county roads.
The Energy and Environment Cabinet has awarded $500,000 dollars to apply new layers of asphalt to extend road life up to eight years. The treatment uses crumb rubber manufactured from waste tires.
The funding comes from the Waste Tire Trust Fund using the $1 fee generated from the retail sale of new tires in the state.
This is the first year the cabinet has offered the grant, with plans to continue in future years.
