Marshall County Confirms Second Coronavirus Case

Marshall County Fiscal Court

Marshall County has confirmed its second case of the novel coronavirus.

The Marshall County Health Department in a release Sunday said the second confirmed case is a 35-year-old man, who is isolated at home. This follows the department confirming the county's first COVID-19 case earlier the same day, a 31-year-old man also isolated at home.

The department said there is no known connection between the two cases. The department is tracking down all contacts each man had with others to determine who may have been exposed to the virus.

The county seat of Benton on March 17 decided to cancel its annual “Tater Day” celebration because of coronavirus concerns. The event brings tens of thousands of people to the county every year.

The department is recommending those with questions regarding coronavirus should visit kycovid19.ky.gov, or call the state’s hotline, 1-800-722-5725.
