The Murray Police Department is informing returning Murray State University students of COVID-19 related concerns ahead of an annual block party.
The party in the Cambridge subdivision will be held this weekend.
MPD Sergeant Andrew Wiggins said officers are present in the area every year to prevent crimes and keep people safe. He said this year, MPD has also contacted property owners in the area and asked them to relay to tenants the seriousness of the virus and the need to prevent large parties. Wiggins said MPD believes they are taking steps to decrease the size of the parties.
MPD is asking people not to have gatherings larger than 10 people and not to go to multiple parties, potentially spreading the virus. Wiggins said MPD has reached out to multiple local agencies to assist.
