West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Challenger Learning Center hosts a 45-minute presentation in a STARLAB portable planetarium. It's a program designed to teach kids about constellations and how the night sky changes. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Dr. Victor Taveras, a member of the physics faculty about the event and a real-life viewing following the STARLAB experience, weather depending.
Currently visible in a clear night sky:
- Mars - after sunset
- Saturn - early evening on the horizon
- Andromeda Galaxy - high in the north
- Pleiades star cluster - one of the nearest to Earth and visible to the naked eye
The STARLAB experience is designed for kids seven and up with their parents, tomorrow evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It costs $10 per person. Reservations at 270-534-3101. The Challenger Learning Center is at 4810 Alben Barkley Drive on the east side of the WKCTC campus in Paducah.
