The Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors has appointed Bjarne Hansen as its new executive director.
Hanson has headed the Murray Calloway Transit Authority for the past 15 years and has worked with Murray Family YMCA and YMCA of the Ozarks.
“This is my area of passion, working with youth and families. I’m excited to join this organization, because they value young people, change lives and impact generations,” Hansen said. “I am looking forward to using my past experiences, learning more and daring greatly through the work of the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club.”
“Bjarne is more than capable of strengthening the club’s current relationships, building new ones in the community and sharing the mission and story of the Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club of Paducah ” OCBGC Board President Todd Faulkner, said. “The Board of Directors is enthusiastic to introduce Bjarne to the community. He is a visionary with a track record for being an organizational leader who carries himself with the highest of integrity.”
Former director Don Dorris resigned to pursue other opportunities after five months on the job. The board then began a search for his replacement.
The nonprofit also shut down its midtown Paducah location in June after it was deemed structurally unsafe for visiting children.
Affiliated with the National Boys and Girls Club of America, the OCBGC has for over sixty years introduced Paducah youths to the ideals of good character, academic achievement and citizenship.
Hansen starts the new role March 1st.
