The Graves County Clerk’s Office is in the process of validating around 1,300 petition signatures turned in to bring a referendum on alcohol sales within Mayfield city limits.
Graves County and Mayfield don't allow packaged alcohol sales. A countywide alcohol sales vote failed last month 54-46 percent.
If and when the required 424 signatures are confirmed, Graves County judge-executive Jesse Perry will set a special election for the vote. City councilman and alcohol sales supporter Phil Myers said he expects that vote would be after May’s primary election in June or July.
