Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials are reminding Kentuckians to buckle up this holiday season.
KYTC Public Information Officer Keith Todd says there have been close to 750 fatalities on Kentucky highways this year, over half of which were not wearing a seatbelt.
He said there were 69 more deaths in 2016. Todd said Kentucky averages about 2.5 fatalities in crashes each day. He expects another 20 deaths are likely to be recorded across the state between now and the end of the year.
Todd said AAA estimates 108 million Americans will travel during the Christmas Holiday driving period and that most will take to the road for an average trip of about 75 miles.
