American Red Cross Holding 'Marshall Strong Blood Drive' on Tuesday

AMERICAN RED CROSS, WESTERN KY CHAPTER VIA FACEBOOK

The American Red Cross is holding a community Blood Drive in Benton on Tuesday, January 30. The Marshall Strong Blood Drive will be in the Marshall County Arts Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The center is located at 1202 Elm Street, Benton, KY

The Red Cross recommends making appointment at redcrossblood.org, but says walk-ins are welcome.

Evelyn Miller is the executive director of the American Red Cross Western Kentucky Chapter. She says the Red Cross has a national critical need for blood donors of all types.

Miller says the Red Cross supplies blood to local hospitals and the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

The Tuesday drive will be one week after a shooting inside the Marshall County High School that killed two students, injured 18 others and will forever change the rural, close-knit community. Support has poured in around the world for Marshall County, with the expression 'Marshall Strong.'

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
