Retiring Christian Co. Sheriff Hires Sheriff-Elect For Smooth Transition

Retiring Christian County Sheriff Livy Leavell Jr. has hired sheriff-elect Tyler DeArmond to serve as Deputy Sheriff. 

DeArmond won the November election for sheriff and takes over operations January 1.

Leavell is retiring on December 31. Leavell said in a release on Tuesday he made the decision to hire DeArmond early to make the transition to his new position as smooth as possible.

DeArmond has 14 years of experience in the Hopkinsville Police Department.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
