The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in a release says repair and maintenance on the Ohio River Brookport Bridge is halfway complete.
In a release, District 1 Chief Engineer Kyle Poat said the bridge is expected to reopen in early November weather permitting.
The bridge originally closed on May 8 when illegal truck traffic created safety issues for workers. The bridge was supposed to be closed for 30 days, but multiple piers on the bridge required additional repairs.
Poat said a process is not in place to replace the 90-year-old bridge and they will continue to maintain the structure to current safety standards.
