The Murray Police Department is investigating a claim made September 12 about a juvenile allegedly possessing a firearm while on school property.
Detectives say they’ve found two Murray High School students involved with the claim. Both students were charged with class D felonies of receiving stolen property, and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
One juvenile allegedly stole the firearm from a relative and left the weapon in a vehicle parked at Murray High School.
Police say the juvenile gave the firearm to a friend to sell after school. Police also say there was no danger to students and the firearm was never brought into the building. But police say if any illegal weapon is brought onto campus, the individual will be “charged to the fullest extent of the law”.
