The Ohio Valley Conference filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Eastern Kentucky University and Jacksonville State University over an exit fee for leaving the athletic conference. Both schools this summer joined the ASUN Conference. OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche said the conference’s Board of Presidents regrets having to take this step.
In a news release today DeBauche is quoted, saying, “We are disappointed in the decision of both schools, and we expect them to do the right thing by fulfilling their contractual obligations.” The conference maintains both schools owe a one million dollar exit fee.
EKU President David McFaddin and Athletics Director Matt Roan have said over the past few weeks efforts were being made to address the exit fee issue.
