During the summer months at Calloway County Public Library, over 26,000 items were checked out and over 3,300 people attended special programs. Sandy Linn from the library stops by Sounds Good with a preview of the book sale this Saturday, featuring exclusive early access for Charter Members; and fall reading programs: the in-depth Sunday Reads Club and the Fort Donelson Civil War group.
Saturday Summer Book Sale
The Friends of the Library host the annual book sale this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale features soft-cover and hard-cover books and DVDs. Charter Members can arrive early between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for exclusive access. Beginning at 9 a.m., registration for Charter Membership is open.
The remainder sale will continue Sunday through Tuesday in the library. Proceeds go to library programming.

Registration is now open for fall story times in the first week of September. Story times are for preschoolers and parents with one-year olds and two year-olds.
Sunday Reads Book Club: a club designed combining fiction and non-fiction with a focus on depth and good discussion. No fluff reading. The club recently discussed Happier at Home by Gretchen Ruben, as part of The Happiness Project.
The Fort Donelson Community Discussion Group covers books about the Civil War, this year focusing on women involved in the war like Mary Todd Lincoln, Varina Banks Howell Davis and Mary Anna Randolph Custis Lee. On September 27, the group takes a trip to Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, the site of one of the bloodiest conflicts in the Civil War that resulted in a tactical victory for the Union.
