[Audio] PSAD 2016 Master Artists Workshops Focus on Ceramics and Small Metals

Paducah School of Art & Design, Facebook

Paul Aho, Dean of Paducah School of Art and Design, speaks with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good about the school’s third year of Master Artists Workshops.

Five nationally recognized artists give workshops focusing on small metals and ceramics this summer at the Paducah School of Art and Design. Workshops includestone setting, ceramic carving and surface embellishment, etched and hollow constructed jewelry, developing personal aesthetic, and clay construction methods. Aho says beginners usually do well but class descriptions will indicate whether prior experience is needed. Class sizes range from 6 to 16 people.

Aho says the program is a service to the region and builds the image of the School of Art and Design.

“We staff tables at the major conferences for the [National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts and the Society of North American Goldsmiths]. We have tables there and we have representatives and we chat it up and distribute our materials and try to put ourselves and Paducah in a national context,” Aho said.

Workshop registration is open. Click here for more information.
