A west Kentucky non-profit will host a music festival in 2020 to raise funds for projects assisting in the fight against invasive Asian Carp in the region.
WKMS previously reportedthe Marshall County based non-profit Asian Carp Aid is putting together a network of donors and volunteers throughout the region. Asian Carp Aid founder Matt Quinn said the network will be fully utilized for the first time in preparation for a three-day music festival, called Asian Carp Fest 2020.
“It’s a really all-encompassing type festival to get a lot of people engaged, to learn about Asian Carp as well as enjoy the music,” said Quinn.
The festival will feature twenty four live concerts. Quinn said he is working to attract high caliber talent from a variety of genres including country, rock and Christian. He also said he hopes the festival will bring twenty to thirty thousand people to the region.
Proceeds from the music festival will benefit five areas: fish habitat restoration, assistance with commercial fishing, dock rebuilding, efforts to attract major fishing tournaments to west Kentucky and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife’s program to disperse gamefish in the region’s waterways.
The inaugural Asian Carp Fest will be held June 12-14, 2020.
