A recent study has listed Calloway and Crittenden Counties in the top 10 places people are best-prepared to save for retirement.
The study from financial technology company SmartAsset considered paycheck friendliness, 401 k plan performance, public pension plan performance and the number of financial advisors per capita.
Crittenden County was the fourth best Kentucky county to retire in, and Calloway County was the seventh best. Oldham County came out at the top of the list.
SmartAsset found which counties have the best 401(k) plans by calculating the ratio of employer contributions to plans and county-level plan costs. The pension plan performance was scored using Census data on local public pensions. The final factor looked at the number of financial advisors per capita for each county. The four factors were indexed to create an overall score.
