KSP Releases Name Of Officer Involved In Death Of Calloway County Man

The Kentucky State Police is releasing the name of the officer involved in the death of a Calloway County man last weekend.

WKMS previously reported 42-year-old John D. Hale of Almo, Kentucky was shot and killed after an altercation with law enforcement. 

An autopsy was conducted on Sunday in Madisonville. According to a release from KSP, the autopsy showed Hale died as a result of shots fired by Murray Police Department officer Justin Swope. Neither Swope nor other law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

Swope was assisting deputies from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office after reports of a suspicious person on Radio Road near Dexter. The investigation is ongoing.
