Henry County, Tennessee school officials are reviewing procedures after a kindergarten student walked away from Lakewood Elementary earlier this week and was found near the four-lane Austin Peay Memorial Highway.
The student was sent to the school’s hallway to do make-up work when he left the school. A passerby reported seeing the child and he was returned to the school safely. The boy's mother was contacted by the school.
Henry County Schools director Sam Miles said the district is now in the process of looking at what can be done to existing policies to make sure students are properly supervised at all times.
