Former Murray Teacher Signs Ethics Board Order To Surrender Teaching Certificate

A former Murray High School teacher accused of sexually grooming students has agreed to voluntarily surrender his Kentucky teaching certificate.

Jason Shelby signed an agreed order last month with the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board. The board voted to accept the order last week.

The order stems from a 2013 report sent to the EPSB by then-superintendent Bob Rogers. The report involves a former student who had presented evidence that Shelby made inappropriate remarks to students.

The order says Shelby acknowledges that his conduct violated the state professional code of ethics.

Last year, Isabel Duarte-Gray came forward as one of the students who had complained in 2013 of Shelby’s alleged sexual grooming. She declined to comment for this story.
