Submarine Force Pacific Fleet's Force Master Chief Cash Caldwell, raised in Paris, Tennessee, has retired after a three decades in the U.S. Navy. He joins us during Sounds Good to talk about his career -- lauded with a Legion of Merit Award.
Paris native Caldwell enlisted in the Navy in 1984, attending Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. He reported to USS Sand Lance in Charleston, South Carolina, which completed deployments to the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. He was assigned to a second tour on the USS Sand Lance and USS Pasadena as Auxiliary Division Leading Petty Officer, which included a deployment to Fifth Fleet during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In 2006, he reported to USS Columbus as Chief of the Boat, where he completed a Western Pacific Deployment in 2008. During this tour, he received the Submarine Squadron 7 Battle Efficiency Award for 2008 and the Admiral Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy.
In 2008, he reported to Commander, Submarine Squadron 3 as Command Master Chief. He wears the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
