Books we're reading at the station and recommend to you. When we're not on-the-air or at our desks, we like to pick up good books. Most of us here at the station are, in fact, avid readers. In the style of NPR's "What We're Reading" (an excellent weekly guide) we, too, decided to share what we've been reading. Here's a list of books recently read by WKMS staff members, student workers and volunteers.Interested in a book on our list? Follow the Amazon link beneath the picture. Staff Pick from Calloway Co. Library: 'The Hundred Dresses'

Looking for a good book to read, but not sure where to start? Make a visit to your public library! Here's another in our series of recommended reads from the staff at the Calloway County Public Library, The Hundred Dresses by Erin McKean, reviewed by Brittany Adams and read by Sierra Foster.

Erin McKean takes a look at one hundred famous (or infamous, depending on your personal style) types of dresses in the extremely fun, The Hundred Dresses. From the Addicted to Love, to the Marilyn, to the Space Empress, to the classic Wrap Dress, each style has its own personality, as well as recommended accessories and designers. Readers will recognize each style, whether it is a dress they have in their own closet, one they wore to the prom, or one they saw their mother wearing in photos from the ‘80s. McKean emphasizes the importance of how a dress makes the wearer feel and what the right kind of dress can do for a woman’s self-confidence. The Hundred Dresses is a light, fun read that will definitely be enjoyed by any fashionista.

Staff Picks from the Calloway County Public Library is an ongoing series on WKMS. Hear more staff picks on Sounds Good, and read them online at wkms.org.
