Books we're reading at the station and recommend to you. When we're not on-the-air or at our desks, we like to pick up good books. Most of us here at the station are, in fact, avid readers. In the style of NPR's "What We're Reading" (an excellent weekly guide) we, too, decided to share what we've been reading. Here's a list of books recently read by WKMS staff members, student workers and volunteers.Interested in a book on our list? Follow the Amazon link beneath the picture. Looking for a good book to read, but not sure where to start? Make a visit to your public library! Here's another in our series of recommended reads from the staff at the Calloway County Public Library, The Vikings by Robert Nicholson and Claire Watts, reviewed by Maddie and read by Diane Daubert.

This is a really cool book about Vikings that young readers will love. Adults will like it too just because it tells some really neat information. This book tells about Viking daily life and it includes their alphabet and how it corresponds to ours. This makes a fun little activity trying to write in the Viking alphabet. The book also includes a story about Thor and the Giants. The giants trick Thor making him believe he was a failure. Wonderful and interesting book I would read again.

Staff Picks from the Calloway County Public Library is an ongoing series on WKMS. Hear more staff picks on Sounds Good, and read them online at wkms.org.
